Mughal Emperor Jahangir was the fourth Mughal Emperor, ruled between 1605 CE and 1627 CE and was the greatest patron of fine arts. He is known for the beautiful variety of coinage.This Extremely Rare Gold Mohur of Jahangir, weighing 10.91g, was sold for INR 9, 10,000 at Classical Numismatic Gallery, auction house, held at Ahmedabad on 10 August 2024.
The obverse is inscribed with the legend ‘Nur-ud-din Jahangir Shah Akbar Shah’ and the reverse is inscribed with the legend ‘Zarb Burhanpur; Ilahi mah Aban, AH (10)16’.
